LCD can be divided into CCFL and LED types according to different backlight sources.

Misconception:

Many users believe that liquid crystal displays (LCDs) can be categorized into LED and LCD types, but this understanding is, to some extent, misguided by advertising.

The so-called LED displays on the market are not genuine LED displays. To be precise, they are LED-backlit liquid crystal displays. The liquid crystal panel is still a traditional LCD display. In a sense, this is somewhat deceptive! For liquid crystal displays, the most important factors are the liquid crystal panel and the backlight type. Generally, the liquid crystal panels used in displays on the market are TFT panels, which are the same. The difference between LED and LCD is only in their backlight types: LED backlight and CCFL backlight (also known as fluorescent lamp), which are diode and cold cathode fluorescent lamp, respectively.

LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display, which translates to "liquid crystal display" in English. LED, on the other hand, refers to a specific type of liquid crystal display (LCD), specifically one that utilizes LED (light-emitting diode) as the backlight source. Evidently, LCD encompasses LED. In fact, the counterpart to LED is CCFL.

（1）CCFL

It refers to a liquid crystal display (LCD) that uses CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) as the backlight source.

The advantage of CCFL is its good color performance, while its disadvantage lies in its high power consumption.

（2）LED

Refers to a liquid crystal display (LCD) that uses LED (Light Emitting Diode) as the backlight source, typically referring to WLED (White LED).

The advantages of LEDs are their small size and low power consumption. Therefore, using LEDs as backlight sources allows for both thinness and lightness while achieving high brightness. However, their main disadvantage is that their color representation is inferior to that of CCFLs. Therefore, most professional drawing LCDs still use traditional CCFLs as backlight sources.
